.ADDITIONAL INFO:

Lake El Salto has filled up an estimated 25 feet since the end of the season. The lake still lacks about another 25 feet to be full with many rains still expected to come. Late August and September is when we receive our heaviest rainfall as always. For the past 14 years, El Salto has always opened up with a full lake.

Longtime customer Jim Webster and friend Phil Rothermich were among the fortunate few that tested out the July action. They caught an enormous number of 5-pound-plus bass, highlighted by a single morning session that produced bass weighing 10, 11 and 12 pounds. They had the best success with plastics, spinners and crankbaits.

Bassmaster Magazine senior writer and longtime customer Tim Tucker along with Gary Giudice and their wives were our last clients of the summer. Both the fishing and the setting were amazing, Tucker reported. The lake was practically empty. Hardly any boats and very few fishermen. And the fishing was phenomenal. We averaged about 70 bass per boat per day and the majority were 4 pounds and bigger. In one spot, I caught 15 bass on 15 consecutive casts with a crankbait and all were 3 1/2 pounds and up! We only fished two days, but we still have three bass that topped the 8-pound mark.

Also, the hot weather was not a factor. We fished early and late with a longer-than-normal siesta in between, but still got in a 10-hour fishing day. The usual wind on the lake kept it completely comfortable (along with the always handy cooler in the boat).

We are currently taking bookings for the 2004-2005 season. From Oct. 1 through Dec. 31 were offering our customers two free nights at the Holiday Inn Sun Spree Resort in Mazatlan as part of our El Salto fishing package. Also for the very first time, Anglers Inn will remain open through July 31. Though weve not officially been open that late in the past, a few of our customers have been permitted to sample the July action at El Salto in recent seasons. Space is limited so be sure to get your dates in on the best trophy bass lake on the planet for the upcoming season and let us customize your package!
