Ken Roman and his wife Jane were Anglers Inn guests for 7 days during this period. Heres what Ken had to say about it: I visited Anglers Inn in 2003. At that time I caught a 13.10-pounder. This trip I took advantage of the Anglers Inn Couples Package and brought my wife along. On our second day out Jane caught a 10-pounder and earned bragging rights. On the morning of our last day a bass picked up my bait. It felt like a 2-pounder. It tugged my line gently a couple of times and I set the hook. I started to reel and that fish really yanked down on my rod. I finally reeled in a 16-pounder. In the process I earned bragging rights for the entire trip.

Kens 16-pounder wasnt that far off the all-time Anglers Inn-El Salto record of 18.8-pounds. Note the pictures of Ken and his lunker. He hooked this 16-pound beauty in about 25-feet of water at 8: 30 a.m. The giant bass gobbled a green pumpkin lizard Ken had rigged Texas Style.

Robert (Bobby) Ota and Chuck Aedo had a similar experience during the period. Heres what Bobby had to say: Anglers Inn is a fantastic place. I caught one bass that weighed 15.4-pounds. Chuck got a 12-pounder right after I boated my big one. We thought we couldnt do any better, but that evening we caught seven fish between 7 and 8-pounds. We knew we were having a Dream Day. While we were at Anglers Inn we averaged 100 bass per day. Our best day was 124 fish. The service at Anglers Inn is just as good as the El Salto Lake fishing and that made our trip something special.

Bobby and Chuck landed their monsters while fishing coves with Texas rigged watermelon colored lizards. Jimmy Webster and Phil Rothermich also boated some beautiful bass during the last two weeks in March.

They got most of them on spinnerbaits that Jimmy had customized especially for El Salto Lake fishing. They slow rolled these ¾-ounce white spinnerbaits in 20 to 25-feet of water. They wound up with fish of 11.8-pounds, 11-pounds and 10.5-pounds along with several 9-pounders. They also caught other dandy bass on plastic lizards and worms in a black and blue color.

As is usual, topwater fishing during this period of post spawning was on the slow side. Most big bass were caught in deeper water on Texas rigged plastics, spinnerbaits, swimbaits and crankbaits. No doubt about it, this is a super time to take the fish of a lifetime. Just ask the fishermen weve been telling you about!
