A true paradise. Best fishing in the world bar none! Cant wait to come back, said James Hall Editor of BASSMASTER Magazine. We caught most of our fish on 5-7 inch Yum Dingers! We ran out after the second day and fought over the few remaining. Pack as many as you think you will need then double it. Carolina rigged lizards provided good action in the middle of the day. Texas rigged 10-inch Powerworms proved effective during the early afternoon. Good number were caught on spinnerbaits in shallow, flooded timber Hall ended up with 4 bass over the 7 pound mark.
Fantastic trip! Food, service and guide were first rate, said Dave Precht Editor in Chief of BASS - who landed this 10.8 pound bass. Dave also caught and released a 9 pounder and 2 fish over 8 pounds.
Billy and Chappy Chapman (and staff) continue to set the standard by which all other facilities are measured, Matt Vincent says. The best action occurred with Dingers, as predicted. However, my biggest bass (10.2 pounds) came on a chartreuse/white ¾ ounce Booyah spinnerbait from Pradco. The topwater action was spotty but when it was happening, it was great Pop Rs and white buzzbaits. Had a 9 pounder on a buzzbait and also landed another 9 pounder and two other fish over 8 pounds.
Katie Watson our superstar for the report landed, as usual; many fish over 8 pounds including two 11 pound bass. She caught these bass on the Storm Wild Eye Swimshad in the Golden Mullet color. Working the bait slowly on the bottom was most effective. Some of the bass are still up on the beds. There has been 12 pounder caught on the following baits Senkos, Rattletrap, Carolina Rigging lizards, spinnerbaits and Pop Rs. All in all the fishing has been a true paradise Be sure to pick up the March issue of BASSMASTER Magazine and check out the story on Joe Bullock and see how Joe did last June.
