The Bigger fish seem to be hiding these last 2 weeks but a lot of numbers are coming in. Experienced fisherman are landing 100+ bass daily with the average size being roughly 2-3 lbs. On the other hand Phylis Odom and her mother Noweta landed a pair of 9 pounders their first outing. Jeff Taibi hooked and released 350 bass in his 3 day stay along with 3 seven pounders. Jerry Schlief and partner Hank Roberts caught 2 ten pounders, 5 nine pounders, and 3 eights on their 3 day fishing trip.
Many of the bigger fish have been coming deep in about 20-30 feet of water. Fishing deep in the trees with plastics and deep diving crank baits have done well. It seems that the slower you work the crank bait the better. Many numbers can be caught by fishing close to the bank with top water plugs and also soft plastics rigged without a bullet weight. As the day moves on the fish start to go a little deeper as should the bait you throw.
