ADDITIONAL INFO: Lake El Salto started its season out with a bang! The water level is high and stained due to the heavy rainfall. The topwater bite has been on. A bullfrog or Baby Bass Zara Spook has been productive in the early mornings and late afternoons. Once the sun peaks over the Sierra Madre Mountains, the spinner bait bite gets hot. The choice would have to be a double willow blade in the gold color. Cast to the edge of hyacinths and let the spinner sink. The spinner bite has been aggressive! As the day progresses, rattletraps turn on and then it goes to plastic worms & lizards. In the afternoons, it seems that it keeps the same pattern but in reverse. Lots of big fish are being caught in shallow water. Again this is due to the high level of the lake which is common for this time of year. Lake points with a lot of brush, seems to be the hotspot along with flats around points. Depending what time of day it is, is what you would throw. The better fishing has been off the edge of hyacinths in shallow water. The wind has not been picking up like it usually does later in the afternoons. The coves have been producing smaller fish with the points and flats producing the El Salto monsters. Mr Wells from Indiana landed the biggest fish of the season so far with an 11 pounder caught on a Baby Bass Zara Spook.
