Another Big Bass Bonanza at the Lakeside lodge. Majority of the big fish are being caught on Crankbait. A “crank and pause” method has been producing the best. When the Crankbait hits the water, reel down hard and then pause. Most of the strikes occur when the bait is paused. The topwater bite has come around for the anglers using an extremely slow presentation close to land, structure, and water hyacinth.
Jigs and worms have been most effective on the drop and hip hopped across the bottom. Again slow is good. Both Texas and Carolina rigs have been effective. Black & Blue skirted jigs with significant trailers have been a big deal of late. Spinnerbaits thrown close to the hyacinth or cliff face has worked well in addition to working it along the bottom like a worm. Here again a large trailer is essential for success.
Travis Gatlin who had one 10 lb’er and two 8’s, said” The service was first class. Our guide took special care of my 66 year old father who also got a 10 lb’er. The guide made sure the boat was positioned so that both Dad and I had a shot at the good spots”. Don Coffey landed a 14 lb’er and 4 over 13 lbs. He said, “Great fishing, Great camp”. Father and son team, Thad and Phil Lacinak bagged one 12 lb’er, three 10 lb’ers, and four 9 lb’ers.
