Most of the bass are on the beds and are being caught in about 3-8 feet of water. The quality of the fish has really picked up in the last week with a whopping 13.11 pounder topping of the scales as the big fish of the week. The weather has been warming up which may explain for the better fishing. Spinnerbaits has been the bait of choice during this period. Fishing up tight against the bank and slow rolling it to the boat has been the key. The best color is white and white with chartreuse. Jeff Cullumber and Bill Davenport literally smacked them on the spinner. They landed a total combined of 4-10´s, 5-9´s, and 1-8 pounder during their 4 day stay. The couples seemed to be doing the best starting out with a Day trip from Mazatlan, thats right, a Day trip. John and Kaye Anglel headed up to El Salto on the beautiful morning of February 26 and will be a day that they will remember for the rest of their lives. The couple landed and amazing 4-10´s, 4-9´s, and 2-8 pounders in their one day stay. Most of their fish came on a 10 Black with Blue tail Powerworm and a 8 Watermelon Zoom lizard. Doug and Debbie Hulse hooked an amazing 2-11s, 3-10´s, 2-9´s, 3-8´s, and several 6 and 7 pounder during their stay on plastics and spinners. Crankbaits are still producing nice bass. |
