ADDITIONAL INFO: El Salto experienced a great rainy season with most of the downpours coming in September. The lake rose approximately 20 feet in the 2 weeks of September. This did slow the fishing down but it is really starting to pick up. The fish seemed to be scattered due to the full level of the lake. Pop’rs s have really picked up in the early mornings of October as well as soft plastic jerkworms such as Senkos and Kinami 5” Flashes. As the day progresses, Rattletraps and deep diving crankbaits have been the bait of choice. The biggest fish so far has been a 12.3-pound largemouth caught on a ¾ ounce Silver with Blue back Rattletrap. The customer who caught her also landed a 12-pounder, 11-pounder, and two 9.5 pound bass and what is so amazing is that they all came on Rattletraps. The worm bite has been a bit slower than normal, but the Fat Free Shad in the citrus color has been making up for it. The weather is starting to cool down a little so the temperature of the water will cool down as well. This should make the fishing better in time to come. Overall, El Salto has left off right were it was with the amount of big fish coming in, but the numbers have been slower. Hopefully with cooler water temperatures, it will come back too. |
