ADDITIONAL INFO:
The first 2 weeks of April have really picked up with the amount to bigger fish to smaller fish. Most of the big fish have been coming on plastic worms and lizards on Texas rigs. Carolina rigging is not that far behind with producing the big fish as well. One of the most productive lures has been a jig. Pitching them in the trees and letting it sink to the bottom with a long trailer has been deadly. A 5/8-ounce or 1/2 ounce is recommended in the morning and a heavier one for the afternoon when the wind picks up. And it has been picking up! There is some top water action going on in the mornings on pop’rs and some big fish on a Zara Spook. Another bait that has been improving is the spinnerbait. A customer the other day said he landed 35 fish himself in the afternoon and all on a spinnerbait. Robert Montgomery and partner were also smacking them on a silver shad spinner with double willow blades. The spawn is about 95% over and the lake is a little lower than last year. This is why the fishing has turned on the last couple of weeks. The fat free shad is starting to make a comeback so be sure to bring down a couple to try. There is still some space in June so get your dates in!
