We had some big 12-pounders caught this week. The biggest was 12.8 pounds. Some of these biggins have been caught close to the bank in about 5-7 feet of water and the others have been in about 20-30 feet of water. During the mourning and late evenings it has been mostly Senkos and topwater action. During the mid day the bigger fish have been caught deeper on plastic worms and lizards rigging them both ways (Carolina and Texas). Floating worms and lizards are recommended for Carolina rigging along with a bead in between the weight and swivel. Also do this for the Texas rigs. Tim Tucker hooked and released a 10.4-pound largemouth on a Fat Free shad. This bait is starting to come back to life so bring them down. David Dubois from California Worm Company caught two-12 pound bass along with a 10-pounder on his California worms in the green pumpkin color. Marshall Bond caught 5 fish over 7-1/2 pounds including two over 10-pounds.

The bottom line is that you can fish the bank all day long and come up with 100+ fish days but there will be a lot of popcorn fish in there. I did a show with Brian Noble for ESPN the other day and landed a 10, 9 and two 7 pounders in one afternoon and our other boat with George Little (with Ranger Boats) landed a couple more 7-pounders mostly on soft plastic jerkbaits. All in all we caught and released over 50 fish in that afternoon.
