Date : April 5 2000 Best Method : Crank Bait Biggest Fish : 8.75 Total Fish : 200+ Days Fished : 3 Report If you ever wanted to catch more bass than you can count and hook larger fish than you have ever had on your line before, then a trip to Villa del Pescador in Mexico is your ticket. Modest accommodations in a remote setting, an attentive staff, and incredible fish catching combined for my adventure of a lifetime in the bass paradise named Lake Huites.
Our journey in April 1999 over crumbling asphalt roads and narrow dirt mountain trails was reminiscent of scenes from an Indiana Jones movie. As we arrived anticipation peaked, knowing that as fast as we could drop bags in the room, we would be heading out to find that 10 pounder. Fish were thicker than picnic ants on dropped food, but it was the knowledge and skills of the local guides that led us to "el grande" and all her sisters. To keep from wearing us out, each day we had a mid-day pause for lunch and a short respite before heading back onto the rich bass waters. The staff at Villa del Pescador run a very efficient schedule which combines plenty of fishing with just enough time to rest. The facilities weren't anything to write home about but the staff made every effort to make us comfortable. Great meals in a relaxed setting set the atmosphere for swapping fish tales. But at Lake Huites, the fish stories aren't fiction. Our bass fishing trip to Mexico lived up to all my expectations and then some. Everyone who loves bass fishing should experience this trip of a lifetime. Leave the family behind. This is a fishing frenzy that won't be appreciated by vacationers looking for a variety of leisurely activity in luxurious surroundings. Sent them on a cruise - you have to go catch the big one. |
